Tibetan Bracelet with Auspicious Motifs
This epic bangle features silver repousse and chased work over a lac material adhered to a vintage plastic resin (possibly bakelite but untested) bangle. By Tibetan silversmiths, likely in Nepal, this bracelet utilizes traditional techniques with new materials, and showcases the 8 auspicious Buddhist symbols: the parasol, the pair of golden fishes, the treasure vase, the lotus, the right-turning conch, the endless knot, the victory banner, and the Dharma wheel. While this is a vintage piece, this craft is still practiced and similar bracelets were recently worn by the ever-stylish artist Erykah Badhu. In very good, wearable condition, there are some scratches to the resin bracelet and the silver edge on the interior is raised in some places.
